Meet Miss Kate Chelak, Assistant Principal of BSS!

We begin the 2019-2020 school year with a wonderful new addition to the BSS administrative leadership team, Kate Chelak. For the past seven years, Miss Chelak has taught in multiple grades at BSS. This experience has helped her understand the school culture and the needs of our students at different ages. In her new role as assistant principal, she will assist Mrs. Garcia in the performance of various leadership responsibilities necessary for the successful administration of the school, such as classroom observations and assistance to teachers in the areas of classroom management and instructional methods, among others.

Though she will miss her time in the classroom getting to know the same students on a daily basis, Miss Chelak is “excited to spend time with students of all ages instead of one class every year, and I’m looking forward to working more closely with Valerie, our office staff, teachers, and parents. I’m also excited to learn new skills and assist the school in a new capacity!”

A native of Arlington, Virginia, Miss Chelak earned a BA in Anthropology and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction at the College of William and Mary. She is currently completing a Master’s in Administration and Supervision at Marymount University. She is also an avid Washington Nationals fan! Welcome to your new position, Miss Chelak!
