Student Council Invited to Culmore Clinic Dedication

Members of our Student Council present their donation of over $300 to
Allison Colby, Executive Director of the Culmore Clinic.

Each month, our Blessed Sacrament School community collects funds in support of a local or national charitable organization through its “Student Council Dress-Down Days.” In March, BSS generously supported Culmore Clinic, an interfaith, non-profit healthcare clinic offering medical care, counseling, and specialty referrals to low-income adults in the Bailey’s Crossroads community. Suggested by the 5th Grade class, our students raised over $300 for the clinic. Additionally, our Blessed Sacrament parish has financially supported the efforts of Culmore Clinic for several years through its Sharing Program.

This week, our Student Council officers were invited to represent BSS at the Culmore Clinic Ribbon Cutting and Dedication ceremony as it moved into a permanent clinic space. At the Dedication Ceremony, they presented the fundraising check on behalf of our school.

There was also a brick installation of the 17 interfaith congregations who support Culmore Clinic and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Community was named on one of the bricks installed. The students were also given a tour of the new facility which provides not only free medical care to patients but counseling services provided by a team of licensed volunteer mental health professionals and prayer support.

Thank you to Culmore Clinic for allowing our students to experience what the value that their donation makes in the lives of people who live only a few miles away from our school.  Once again, this is an example of how our students continue to live our school mission and exemplify that BSS is truly a “community of caring.”
