Early Childhood Center Offerings

Blessed Sacrament School’s Early Childhood Center is a play based, developmental Catholic preschool. Our ECC provides an education that is a developmentally appropriate and productive avenue for the characteristics of a complete educational process through play. It develops initiative, imagination, and interest. Play is inherently individual and has no predetermined expectations. There can be no “failure” in play. Each child is free to succeed at self-chosen tasks, and this success leads to feelings of competence, self-worth, and the willingness to try new things.

The “Foundation Blocks for Learning” developed by the Commonwealth of Virginia provides the foundation for the curriculum to include: literacy, mathematics, science, history, social sciences, and physical and social/emotional development. The “Kindergarten Readiness Testing” results show that our ECC provides a solid foundation in Language Arts and Math skills for success in the elementary years.

Running September through May, our ECC offers 4 classes for preschoolers, divided by age.  All preschool students must be 3 years of age by Sept. 30 (fully potty-trained; no pull-ups are allowed). Class sizes run 16:2 or 18:2 for a student/teacher ratio.
